Progression of me

from eighty four to now…

Sydney, Sailing and Sunburn

Australia is currently going through a heatwave.  You know it’s hot when the radio station DJ’s are warning you to keep drinking plenty of water and to go shopping centres or movie theatres if your house doesn’t have air conditioning!!

Although it is up in the low 40’s (around 107ish for those of you who may not use the metric system) it has been cooler down the coast so yesterday my best friend and I spent the day at the beach.  It was lovely – we had some good quality girl time, chatting and laughing mixed with time in the sun and surf 🙂

I think this sums up the Australian beach scene quite nicely. Without a cloud in the sky it was the perfect beach day 🙂

That thin line…

DOMS,

also known as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is something I’m sure every one of us has experienced at one time or another.  You know that feeling when you struggle to sit up in bed because your abs are so sore?  Or you walk up the stairs and your butt hurts so bad you don’t think you can make it to the next flight?  Or the muscles which bother me the most, quads – I walk around with my legs straight because I can’t even bend my knees without the pain ohhh the pain!!!

And we’re done…

My final day at work in Sydney.  Possibly, the last day I will ever work in Sydney…possibly not.  Who knows what the future will bring, but now it’s time to say goodbye to this vibrant, often-crazy city and rekindle my relationship with the city I grew up in.

A lot has happened in the past 6 or so years.  I’ve achieved some great things and learnt some very valuable skills and lessons.  I have made some friends who I know will be part of my life forever.  I also know that there were people that I met along the way who may not have liked me or visa versa but they were a necessary part of the journey.  I think too, that each person you meet influences your life in one way or another.

So why would I want to leave Sydney?  If I had a dollar for every person who has asked me that…well I’d be a very rich person.

Honestly?  It’s just time.  Sydney has opened it’s arms to me and I’ve taken from it what I’ve needed.  Now it’s time to move on….to take what I’ve learnt and use it elsewhere.  Somewhere slower paced, with my family and close friends around me.  I’m excited for this new chapter and next week I plan to sit down and write a list of new goals.  I think I’ll do a bit of updating of this blog too….

A new city…a new structure.

To Sydney – thanks for the journey.  It’s been fun.  To the amazing new friends I now have in my life, it is you that have made the journey!

Overdue Update!

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve written a decent post and there is a lot to say.  The reason for the lack of posts in the last month and a bit is that I have been struggling emotionally for a while – feeling a bit unsure of myself and doubting things I have been doing or saying.  This emotional block caused me to withdraw from everything and when speaking to a friend she made me realise that I should use my writing as an outlet.  If this is to be a true reflection of myself and my journey to become the best version of myself I can be, then I need to show all sides.  Not only when I’m feeling happy, excited and motivated, but those times when I am struggling too…to show how I make it to the other side.

Kissing 2012 Good bye and the Butterfly of Possibility

I heard that the theme of this year’s New Years Eve in Sydney was the lips – kissing 2012 good-bye and the butterfly of possibility.  I find this incredibly appropriate in my life and am excited by the new year ahead…
