Something New!

2015 so far!

Happy New Year to you all!  I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable festive season and as we move into another brand new year, I wish you all the best.  If last year wasn’t your finest moment, then wipe that slate clean and jump back on that wagon!  If 2014 was a good one then keep that momentum flowing into the new year and make it even BETTER!

Today I went for a walk on my lunch break to some nearby rose gardens, which, until recently I didn’t even know existed.  The weather was perfect: clear blue sky, sunshine and just the slightest breeze.
It was so peaceful I wished I could have spent hours there. Sometimes its nice to try something new, especially if it has multiple purposes! It was both a nice break and also helped towards my steps for the day.
I am currently in a Steps Challenge through work – to walk 10,000 steps a day. It is both an individual and team challenge. This week is tough with my final exams but I am still managing to do more steps than normal so that’s a good start!!!
I’ve done the challenge before but never really succeeded. Let’s see how this year goes 🙂

Two Days In…

Firstly, I hope that you had a chance to check out the post I re-blogged earlier today from the amazing Better Man Project.  It was Monday Motivation at its finest!  If you didn’t, you can check out the video directly on YouTube here.

It’s people like Arthur, that are true inspirations!  They show us that anything is possible and if we believe in ourselves we can do whatever we set our minds too!  Even when people have told us that it is impossible!

On a much smaller scale, I have had a number of people tell me that I am being too ambitious with my 30 Things Project.  I want to show these people I CAN do it!  I am happy to report that in just two days I have completed 3 things so far!  I have also managed to start my first book and watched one movie – I have started a page here listing the movies as I watch them.  Would anyone be interested in a short review/star rating on the movies?

It’s exciting to feel a sense of accomplishment and I am excited to start working on the scrapbook which will eventually be filled with the 30 Things!  I have never tried scrapbooking before, but am looking forward to doing something creative and I was lucky to find a scrapbooking kit which has everything I need to get started!

I had a lovely day on Saturday with friends and also spending some time on my own in the morning at the gym and the movies.  The perfect mix.  I am looking forward to a family barbecue this weekend 🙂

30 Things For 30.

Reading over numerous blogs that I follow, I can see a common theme – that 2014 is all about DOING.  A friend of mine told me that on New Years Eve there was a New Moon and after having a look online I discovered that with the way the planets were aligned, the energy could make this either a make or break year!  By ensuring we channelled this energy correctly we could allow for a fresh start.  This seems very appropriate for a New Year and from what I can see, however we began the year, will continue on in 2014.

It is now only 2 weeks until I turn 30 and, if you know me in person or have read previous blog entries, you will know this has been a day I’ve been worried about for a while.  However, towards the end of last year, I was inspired by some friends to create a list.  A list of 30 things I plan to do when I turn 30.  At first the idea was simply that, an idea….

Self Belief

On the 4th of September a work colleague and I decided to give “Squatember” a go.  For more info, check out my previous posts – here and here.

Today, being the 30th of September, was the final day.  250 Squats!

Looking back to the 4th of September when we had to cram 3 days worth (165)  into one day, it had been a struggle and I looked towards the last day thinking “250 squats OMG!”  But now, I can say, with a huge smile on my face “I DID IT!!!”

And this is the first time I have set myself a challenge and actually stuck to it.  Not once did I cheat!  And I can feel the benefits too!  I may not really be able to SEE them yet, but my butt certainly feels a little more firm!

So, what have I learnt from this challenge?

1. That if I really want something I CAN DO IT!!!!

2. That there was never a point where I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it…I just expected myself to do it.  I think that’s the key – if you simply just believe – you don’t doubt yourself – you just…well..do it!

3.  I’ve learnt different ways to squat and that breaking up a challenge into smaller, more manageable tasks is definitely the way forward.

4. I’ve also found having my little calendar up on the wall both at work and home where I could cross off each day was a big help and kept me motivated!!

All up I’m stoked, that I’ve proven to myself I actually can do something.  Normally I get impatient or forget and then give up…this time, I’m not quite sure what was different but I want to give myself a huge pat on the back for sticking with it!  I’ve now decided I’m going to keep doing the squats into October – probably not as many but a minimum of 50 a day!  TOO EASY!

Next month is going to be “Upper Body Rocktober” so I’m hanging out to see what exactly this involves and SMASHING my second challenge in a row 🙂
