Progression of me

from eighty four to now…

Happy!

Tonight at Zumba we had a very small class. There were only 5 of us which was kinda cool. I normally try to get to Zumba at least once a week – ideally twice. Wednesday night’s always tend to be smaller for some reason. When I go on Saturdays it is always jam-packed.

Anyway I really enjoyed tonight’s class – there was a good mix of tracks, some laughs and we ended the class with HAPPY by Pharrell Williams. As I left I felt really energised and well…HAPPY! So I thought I’d share this song with anyone who hasn’t heard it before. If you can’t smile and feel happy listening to it then I think there’s something wrong with you 😛

It also got me thinking of how important it is to enjoy your work outs. It’s the key to keeping motivated. If you really don’t enjoy a form of exercise DON’T try to force yourself to do it. Find something you love and you’ll find your motivation. It’s that simple 🙂

Good night all xx

Merry Christmas everyone!

It’s that time of year again and I thought this picture was quite appropriate.

It’s only one day – and I’ve learnt this year that it’s all about moderation!

Enjoy yourself this Christmas 🙂

Self Belief

On the 4th of September a work colleague and I decided to give “Squatember” a go.  For more info, check out my previous posts – here and here.

Today, being the 30th of September, was the final day.  250 Squats!

Looking back to the 4th of September when we had to cram 3 days worth (165)  into one day, it had been a struggle and I looked towards the last day thinking “250 squats OMG!”  But now, I can say, with a huge smile on my face “I DID IT!!!”

And this is the first time I have set myself a challenge and actually stuck to it.  Not once did I cheat!  And I can feel the benefits too!  I may not really be able to SEE them yet, but my butt certainly feels a little more firm!

So, what have I learnt from this challenge?

1. That if I really want something I CAN DO IT!!!!

2. That there was never a point where I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it…I just expected myself to do it.  I think that’s the key – if you simply just believe – you don’t doubt yourself – you just…well..do it!

3.  I’ve learnt different ways to squat and that breaking up a challenge into smaller, more manageable tasks is definitely the way forward.

4. I’ve also found having my little calendar up on the wall both at work and home where I could cross off each day was a big help and kept me motivated!!

All up I’m stoked, that I’ve proven to myself I actually can do something.  Normally I get impatient or forget and then give up…this time, I’m not quite sure what was different but I want to give myself a huge pat on the back for sticking with it!  I’ve now decided I’m going to keep doing the squats into October – probably not as many but a minimum of 50 a day!  TOO EASY!

Next month is going to be “Upper Body Rocktober” so I’m hanging out to see what exactly this involves and SMASHING my second challenge in a row 🙂

The Magic of Travel

The Magic of Travel

What do you think when you look at this image? Paradise? Well, you’d be pretty close!!! This is where I spent the better half of the last week. And wow – what an amazing part of the world the Gili Islands are.

This time last year, if someone had mentioned the Gili Islands I would not have had a clue about them, and probably not much interest in visiting. Closer to Lombok than to Bali as I originally thought, the ocean is crystal clear, the sand white and the people relaxed and friendly…

I wish I could have stayed longer but it was the perfect taster – just enough to feel worthwhile, but to allow me to leave wanting more.

I am feeling much more relaxed and refreshed after my trip away with the girls. It’s amazing the power travel has on a person..how you can allow your mind to wander, leaving you with questions answered and feeling revived and alive! I now feel I have the energy to dive headfirst into the last month or so of work and health/fitness before I head to America…
