The New and Improved Challenge

July 16th 2012.  A trip to the doctor and suddenly I felt like the walls around me had come crashing down.  How could everything have gone from so good to so bad in a matter of days?

July 23rd 2012.  The official diagnosis arrived from the doctor.  I cried.  A lot.  I was lucky to discover a support network on-line – without it I don’t think I would have made it through.

What I have found over the past 4 months is that knowledge is power.  The more research I have done, the more I have understood what needs to be done from here….  One thing I did learn was that my immunity is never going to be quite the same again and really my health should be my number one priority… A healthy body AND a healthy mind both work together and both are equally important.

I have had times where I’ve stumbled…where I have given in to temptations and I know the choice hasn’t been in the best interest of my body – but I am determined to change this.

And so we come to the New and Improved Challenge…

Each week I am going to concentrate on 3 things – healthy eating, healthy body and healthy mind – They are only simple and I will add to them as the weeks go by.

Starting November 26 2012 – this week I am concentrating on the below:

  • 15 minutes of relaxation and deep breathing at the end of every day (Radio station SBS Chill is great for that) – this will increase as the challenge continues
  • Minimum 10,000 steps each day
  • Minimum 2 L water per day

December 6 update – I have succeeded in drinking 2 L of water per day!  1 out of 3 ain’t bad…due to this I have altered the challenge slightly…I’m continuing with the 2 L of water and have added a glass of ACV each morning to this…please see today’s post for further information.  New challenges will be added in…

If you should wish to join me on this challenge and have any suggestions of things we could add week by week I would love to hear from you – feel free to comment below or send me a message on my Facebook page

February 2 update – Already one month in to 2013 and I have continued to drink a glass of ACV each morning – I have also recently downloaded an app on my iPhone to track my water intake and although some days I haven’t succeeded in 2 L per day I am always aware of how much I have or haven’t drunk and can work on improving it.  I HAVE however, stuck to my New Years resolution of doing something active each day and it will only get better from here.  The 12 Week Challenge begins tomorrow…the ultimate “New and Improved Challenge…let’s see where I am in April!
