Progression of me

Two Days In…

Firstly, I hope that you had a chance to check out the post I re-blogged earlier today from the amazing Better Man Project.  It was Monday Motivation at its finest!  If you didn’t, you can check out the video directly on YouTube here.

It’s people like Arthur, that are true inspirations!  They show us that anything is possible and if we believe in ourselves we can do whatever we set our minds too!  Even when people have told us that it is impossible!

On a much smaller scale, I have had a number of people tell me that I am being too ambitious with my 30 Things Project.  I want to show these people I CAN do it!  I am happy to report that in just two days I have completed 3 things so far!  I have also managed to start my first book and watched one movie – I have started a page here listing the movies as I watch them.  Would anyone be interested in a short review/star rating on the movies?

It’s exciting to feel a sense of accomplishment and I am excited to start working on the scrapbook which will eventually be filled with the 30 Things!  I have never tried scrapbooking before, but am looking forward to doing something creative and I was lucky to find a scrapbooking kit which has everything I need to get started!

I had a lovely day on Saturday with friends and also spending some time on my own in the morning at the gym and the movies.  The perfect mix.  I am looking forward to a family barbecue this weekend 🙂

And we’re done…

My final day at work in Sydney.  Possibly, the last day I will ever work in Sydney…possibly not.  Who knows what the future will bring, but now it’s time to say goodbye to this vibrant, often-crazy city and rekindle my relationship with the city I grew up in.

A lot has happened in the past 6 or so years.  I’ve achieved some great things and learnt some very valuable skills and lessons.  I have made some friends who I know will be part of my life forever.  I also know that there were people that I met along the way who may not have liked me or visa versa but they were a necessary part of the journey.  I think too, that each person you meet influences your life in one way or another.

So why would I want to leave Sydney?  If I had a dollar for every person who has asked me that…well I’d be a very rich person.

Honestly?  It’s just time.  Sydney has opened it’s arms to me and I’ve taken from it what I’ve needed.  Now it’s time to move on….to take what I’ve learnt and use it elsewhere.  Somewhere slower paced, with my family and close friends around me.  I’m excited for this new chapter and next week I plan to sit down and write a list of new goals.  I think I’ll do a bit of updating of this blog too….

A new city…a new structure.

To Sydney – thanks for the journey.  It’s been fun.  To the amazing new friends I now have in my life, it is you that have made the journey!

A change of scenery…

At the age of 19, I left home and moved to the United Kingdom for 12 months.  I was young and thought I knew so much about life and the world…it was only when I landed on the other side of the planet that I realised I was not as grown up as I had thought.  During that time, I learnt so much about myself and the world, that to this day I believe it was one of the most important life journeys I have undertaken so far.

Decisions

And so my favourite time of year has come to an end.  I can’t believe it’s over…it’s scary how quickly the past week went by.  I planned to write a lot more than I did; but I am pleased to report that I got to see many of my friends and spend some quality time with family – and that, to me, is what the Christmas season is all about.

Spelt Bread!

2 posts in one day I hear you say!  You betcha!  Today has been a great day so I wanted to share with you all what has gone down!

Recently, my brother and his girlfriend came to visit and his girlfriend – let’s call her Sally for the purpose of the blog – mentioned she had lost 20kg over a 4 month period.  I was shocked as I didn’t think she had 20kg to lose!!!  She showed me a before and after photo and the results spoke for themselves.  I was amazed and very impressed!  I then asked her how she had done it and she said “I cut out white carbs and starch mostly.  So like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, pumpkin etc.”

She then continued to explain that she makes her own spelt bread as an alternative to normal bread, she also purchases a special type of pasta called “Slim Pasta” – which is apparently no carbs and is available at Woolworth’s and for rice she uses cauliflower grated up and boiled (a recent discovery from another friend of mine who also does the same thing).

The spelt bread sounded like a good alternative to normal bread and so I asked if Sally could show me how to make it some time.  I have never even made bread before so I was quite excited.  Today, I visited Sally and she showed me how to do it.

A dedication….

So, today’s entry is a little different…however, continuing on from my blog yesterday, and how important music is I decided to dedicate this post to a very special person in my life who passed away a few months ago.

OK….So…Freakily enough I just moved to another page and the song I am about to share came on to my itunes…it’s on shuffle and there are almost 3000 songs on there…so, you tell me what that means?!

Anyhow, as I was saying…a few months ago my grandfather passed away.  He was a lover of musicals and an amazing human being – well respected in his community.  He was funny, caring, down to earth and open minded.  I miss him every day.  But when I hear this song, it reminds me of him and the memories I have of him…

RIP.
