Progression of me

from eighty four to now…

The mind part I

on November 19, 2012

Whilst in Hobart on the weekend we visited Mona a Museum of Modern and Old Art.  All I can say is wow!  There’s not even a way to describe that place – as the bus driver said on the way there, you really do need to go in with an open mind. The website gives a small indication to what the place is about; however you really need to see it for yourself and make up your own mind.

One piece of art I found quite interesting was this:

A large metal hollow head – inside it were a whole heap of flashing and moving items which you could see through a number of holes in the side….

Here is an image showing the inside from one angle:

And another…

It was interesting because it had to do with the way our mind filters certain things out and about our conscious and unconscious mind.  All very complex to someone like me that really hasn’t learnt much about how the brain works!

It really got me thinking about how everyone’s brain is different…some people are very logical, some are very emotional, some very arty.  Does this mean our thought patterns are different?  I guess it probably does…and it would explain different writing styles and why one person likes one thing whilst the next person does not.

So, where are we go with this I may hear you say?  Well going back to yesterday’s post, and the way you can often drift away in thought…letting your mind wander.  I find the times I do the most thinking is when I’m travelling and particularly when listening to music…

Yesterday, whilst in mid air – somewhere above either the state of Victoria or New South Wales, I decided to write down my thoughts as they came into my head – to use in this blog post.  I look back on them now and it’s simply amazing to see the way one topic merges into another and how randomly out of the blue I had notes like “book doctors appointment” or “call Kylie to organise catch up”.  I liked it though, getting everything out and onto paper (well so to speak).

And now…as I wanted to start collaborating everything together my phone has decided to die on me.  I am charging it but I think this post may have to end here and I will continue it next time….

So until then….
