Mini Challenge Day 1

on November 13, 2012

OK…so challenge set..challenge accepted!

Day 1 – Work was not as busy as yesterday so I got out on time.  I then went and met a good friend who I haven’t caught up with properly in a one-on-one situation for quite some time.  We had Mexican for dinner and a good chat.  Time zoomed by and I wish we’d had longer.  It was so good to see her!  Since moving house a couple of months ago, I am only a few km’s away for her now so we really have no excuse not to catch up.

It got me thinking that people always say (myself included) “it’s hard catching up with people these days – everyone is so busy with their own lives”.  Well I think that’s a load of bull really!  If you really want to see someone, you can make time!  Even if it’s just a 5 minute “hey, how are you?” visit or a quick coffee….

Why do we make excuses?

Why do we put off things – particularly things that make us happy?!

Are we scared of our own happiness?

So many questions to think about….. but the most important goes back to the challenge:

What did you do today that made you happy?

Well, I can tell you that meeting my friend did make me happy and so I think I would have to say that day one of my mini challenge has been a success! My work/life balance feels a little more level and I’m feeling good 🙂

I’m actually going to create a page with my list of things that make me happy each day in this mini challenge…and add to them.  I figure, this way, I can also look back on things that make me happy and ensure I am doing them every day (even the little things) to keep my work/life balance in sync!

Rock on!
